As a future lawyer, I recognize the power of law to effect change, and my ability to be a part of that change. I also recognize the unique opportunity I have in this moment as a law student to affirmatively influence the direction of my field. Gun violence is a crisis in America, and I commit to using my legal skills to help fight the crisis instead of furthering it.

The gun industry has fueled the gun violence epidemic that has led to over one million Americans being shot in the past decade. Until the gun industry takes concrete, lasting steps to prevent gun violence, I cannot in good conscience represent gun companies or gun lobby organizations, as it would present a conflict of interest for me.

I will not work for any firm that requires me to advocate on behalf of the gun industry or gun lobby. I will instead prioritize firms that actively fight gun violence and the industry that propagates it.
